A neat little semi-evergreen perennial, also known as Mouse-ear Gypsophila due to it's small spoon-shaped, slightly hairy leaves. From late spring through to mid-summer Gypsophila cerastioides produces pretty white flowers with tiny pink veins. With a mounding, spreading habit, this alpine plant is perfect for rock gardens, gravel gardens, patio containers, or spilling out of wall crevices. Height: 5cm (2"). Spread: 15cm (6").

Culinary information: Babys Breath (Gypsophila sp.) has white or pink flowers that have a mild, slightly sweet flavour, perfect for dessert garnishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until Gypsophila plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the plant.
Grow Gypsophila plants in sunny borders. Gypsophila plants dislike particularly wet soils in winter. Plant them in a well drained soil, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay soils.
