Hollyhock ‘Nigra’ is real attention grabber with its dramatic stature and dark blooms that make sensational cut flowers. Grow hollyhocks in a sheltered position away from strong winds. Plant in full sun, on fertile, well drained soil.
Support the tall hollyhock flower stems with garden canes if necessary. In autumn, remove old foliage and faded flower stems. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the plant.
