Towering stems of extraordinary maroon-black, satiny flowers with pale, contrasting eyes. Hollyhock ‘Nigra’ is real attention grabber with its dramatic stature and dark blooms that make sensational cut flowers. This well-loved cottage garden perennial is ideal for adding splendour and architecture to the back of sunny borders. Height: 200cm (79"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Grow hollyhocks in a sheltered position away from strong winds. Plant in full sun, on fertile, well drained soil.
Support the tall hollyhock flower stems with garden canes if necessary. In autumn, remove old foliage and faded flower stems. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the plant.
