These spiral-stemmed Olives are best grown in containers of soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. In very mild areas, plant olive trees in the ground in any neutral to alkaline soil in a sheltered position in full sun.
Feed and water container grown plants regularly, particularly during dry periods. Olives may be pruned with secateurs in late spring or early summer to maintain their shape. Young olive trees will appreciate some winter protection from hard frosts. Container grown plants should be moved to a sheltered position or cold greenhouse. With maturity, Olives become significantly hardier.
