Peony Hardy Collection comprises three peonies in a fabulous palette of soft pink, coral and deep red. Herbaceous peonies are a real feature of the border producing sumptuous blooms from early summer onwards which are superb for cutting. Despite their flamboyant looks, they are reliably hardy, long lived and cope well on heavier soils, provided that they are well drained These sumptuous perennials will get bigger and produce more flowers year after year making them a beautiful and rewarding addition to your garden.

Peony Hardy Collection contains the following varieties:

  • Peony ‘Edens Perfume’ - Said to be the most fragrant peony ever! Large pink blooms with a powerful scent of roses and layer upon layer of sublime, shell pink petals. Height: 90cm (36in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
  • Peony ‘Buckeye Belle’ - A stunning peony with the most vibrant colour, an evocative fragrance and layer upon layer of petals creating a dramatic display. Peony ‘Buckeye Belle’ has sumptuous, deep scarlet, semi-double blooms and beautiful contrasting gold anthers. Height and spread: 90cm (35in).
  • Peony ‘Hawaiian Coral’ - Sensational coral pink blooms that have a real exotic look to them. Peony ‘Pink Hawaiian Coral’ bears large double flowers on long stems that make them perfect for cutting and bringing indoors. Height: 75cm (29in). Spread: 90cm (36in).

Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.

3 Bare Root Plants (1 of each variety) (KF7553)

Bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, moist, well drained soil. Peony plants prefer a heavy soil that is rich in organic matter. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting. Plant herbaceous peonies so that the top of the crown is just 5cm (2”) below the soil surface, taking care not to plant too deeply as this may prevent or delay peonies from flowering.
Feed and water peonies regularly until plants are fully established. In exposed positions the stems may require staking to support the large peony flowers. Cut back old foliage in autumn. When growing peonies on light sandy soil, a spring mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost may be applied around the base of the plant, taking care not to bury the crown as this may delay flowering.
