Pot up scabious plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost-free conditions. When plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days and transplant into borders. Plant Scabiosa in any well drained, neutral to alkaline soil, which is not excessively wet in winter. Choose a position in full sun. Garden Ready plug plants can be planted straight out in the garden provided that there are no forecasts of frost.
Water Scabiosa plants regularly until they are fully established. Cut back faded scabious flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
